Congregations Organized for a NEw CT

“No one is exempted from striving to ensure respect
for the dignity of person, especially the most frail and vulnerable,
from the unborn to the elderly, from the sick to the unemployed,
citizens and immigrants alike.”
— Pope Leo XIV
Putting Faith into Action
People of all beliefs are often moved to put their values into action when they become aware of the inequities faced by their neighbors—locally, statewide, and across the country.
One way we at St. Anthony’s have chosen to act is by joining CONECT: Congregations Organized for a NEw CT.
What is CONECT?
CONECT is a collective of 26-plus churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, and civic organizations in Fairfield and New Haven counties, founded in 2011.
It identifies and researches the most critical social, racial, and economic issues facing our most vulnerable residents.
CONECT then brings these issues to local and state leaders to work toward actionable legislative solutions.
Members of CONECT are collaborative, non-partisan, racially diverse—guided by the desire to enhance the common good together.

CONECT at St. Anthony’s
Our chapter is made up of Core Team members (see below) who have completed a series of organizational training sessions, as well as an Advisory Board and volunteers who have expressed an interest in helping out as needed. Members do as much as they are able. There are no fees or commitments—simply a desire to help.
Through one-on-one conversations with interested parishioners and gathering as a group, we discuss and choose those issues that people feel are most crucial. Then the CONECT board and research team members discuss specific actions. For example, they might involve making phone calls or sending emails to legislators; joining a rally in Hartford; serving on a research team; spreading the word to friends and neighbors, and more.
We warmly welcome new members at anytime.
Contact the Parish Office or one of the Core Team members for more information,
and check the weekly bulletin for notices of upcoming meetings.
